Sandy Cederbaum, Village Manager omcamgr@columbiavillages.org.
The Village Manager overseas the day-to-day operation of the community association. As Village Manager, Sandy brings years of management experience and communications skills to the position. She is the editor of the monthly calendar of events and weekly email newsletter, OMeNEWS. Sandy is well versed in managing projects, marketing, writing newsletters, coordinating staff and volunteers, facility management and handling the budget. Ms. Cederbaum works closely with committee members and volunteers and is involved with all Oakland Mills events and programs. She is always available to the community and helps residents out in every possible way. There are so many aspects of the job that Sandy enjoys. One of the most rewarding is the interaction with the residents and the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of those who live in Oakland Mills. Sandy is a member of Leadership Howard County and serves on committees in the County and with the Columbia Association.
Dorita Forehand, Community Organizer OMCommunityOrganizer@columbiavillages.org, 410-730-1129.
As Community Organizer, Dorita Forehand will continue the established programs and initiatives that are a hallmark of Oakland Mills, including the Street Captain’s Program, Jazz in the Mills Series, Volunteer Appreciation & New Resident Welcome Reception and authoring and editing the bi-weekly publications, The Community Digest and School News. A focus of the job will remain serving as a liaison between residents, our schools, merchants and entities with whom we partner. Dorita’s diverse professional and educational background lends itself to the tasks associated with the new initiatives that are planned, most of which depend upon volunteerism for success. Details will be forthcoming. Dorita has volunteered thousands of hours in various capacities throughout Columbia, Baltimore and Washington, DC. Within a community, Dorita believes, that unity is built upon the pillars of respect of and for its inhabitants, dedication, purposeful work, shared responsibility and common understanding. Dorita has been a resident of Columbia since 1998, having purchased a home in Owen Brown, where she still resides. She is eager to find funding sources so that the CO position continues beyond April 2009, becoming a permanent position in the community.
Debbie Bach, Covenant Advisor omcacov@columbiavillages.org.
The Covenant Advisor has a variety of responsibilities. First and foremost the role is to educate and respond to resident inquiries regarding the Village's Architectural Guidelines and Covenants; to explain and facilitate processes including application review and appeals procedures; and to handle all resident inquiries, many of which deal with properties that are out of compliance. Debbie is a skilled listener and great communicator. She is passionate about the role she plays in the community and brings great compassion to her job. Debbie takes the "holistic" approach to the position of Covenant Advisor and works closely with residents to help them through complicated and difficult situations. She serves as primary liaison with the Columbia Association's Architectural Review Committee.
Susan Azoulay, Event and Facility Coordinator omcaprog@columbiavillages.org.
Susan's experiences with event planning make her a perfect match for the position of event and facility coordinator. Her attention to detail has been the key to successful events and programs held in Oakland Mills. Among Susan's many accomplishments is the Oakland Mills International Fall Festival, Lively Arts for Little Ones Performance Series, seasonal events that include the annual Breakfast with Santa and the newly created and exceptional Polar Express event and the summer pool parties. As facility coordinator, Susan overseas the rentals of the Other Barn and three neighborhood centers. She works closely with renters to make sure that their events run smoothly and are truly memorable. Susan is a people person who loves working with and helping everyone, and especially loves the kids who come to the many children's events she creates!
Nadia Herron, Administrative Assistant omcaadmin@columbiavillages.org. The role of the Administrative Assistant is to directly support the Village Manager and Board of Directors. Nadia Herron comes to OMCA with over 7 years experience in office support and operations. Nadia's dedication to community efforts stem from her previous employment with Leadership Howard County. With her roots planting in Oakland Mills in 1989, she is also a graduate of Oakland Mills High School and currently spearheads their alumni program. Prior to her employment at LHC, she worked in the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center. Nadia and her husband, also a native of Oakland Mills, reside in Baltimore County with their 2 small children.
In addition to our full-time staff, the following staff members are a part of the OM Team: Richard Radhe - Bookkeeper and Facility Assistant; Tom Dudek - Covenant Assistant; Charlotte Cook, Michael Knott, Patrick Murphy, Delores Richmond, Judy Dopkowski and Reginald Smith, Phil Dopkowski – Facility/Rental Assistants.
